Shito Peanut Stew

Serves: 4


  • 500g beef or chicken (cut into 1.5cm cubes)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3tbs Shito Pepper Sauce, heaped
  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 3 roma tomatoes, diced
  • 100g tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup natural unsweetened peanut butter
  • 2 stock cube of choice
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 cups pumpkin or sweet potato, diced
  • Salt and Pepper to taste


1. Heat the oil in a large pot and sauté the onions until golden

2. Add the beef or chicken, and continue to sauté until the beef or chicken is no longer pink.

3. Add the tomatoes and cook for 3 minutes.

4. Add the tomato paste, Hot Shito, peanut butter and stir to combine.

5. Add the water and stock cubes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Add pumpkin or sweet potato, cover, and continue to cook for 35-40 minutes or until the pumpkin or sweet potato is tender, stirring occasionally.

7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
